Resources for Families Navigating the Formula Shortage

As the infant formula shortage continues, there is more attention to this crisis in the media and by various organizations and governing bodies.

While fund are being allocated, and formula is being airlifted in, many families are still struggling to find formula for their babies, or make difficult decisions.

I support informed-decision making, but we can’t make decisions if we don’t feel that we have options. And that involves having information (and ideally support).

I recently spoke to a group of childbirth and new parent educators about this topic, and I pulled together some resources. Here they are:

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Find Formula During the Infant Formula Shortage

Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine Statement

WHO Safe preparation, storage and handling of powdered infant formula

CDC Infant Formula Preparation and Storage

Lactation Hub finding alternatives types of formula
